The Assembly Member for Alajo North Electoral Area, Ibrahim Halidu, has made a passionate pledge to support academic excellence among Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates in his community.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of a free extra classes programme he sponsors annually, Halidu announced that any student from the Alajo North Electoral Area who scores between aggregate 6 and 10 in the upcoming BECE will receive a brand-new laptop.
The gesture, according to Halidu, is aimed at motivating students to aim higher and to also equip them with digital tools that will support their future learning and development.
“I believe in rewarding hard work and encouraging excellence. Any student who attains between aggregate 6 and 10 in this year’s BECE will be given a free laptop to support their academic journey into senior high school and beyond,” he stated to loud applause from students present.
The announcement was made during the final day of the free extra classes organized by Halidu and his team for final-year junior high school students in the electoral area. The free extra classes, which has been running for several years, is part of the Assembly Member’s commitment to improving education outcomes in the community.
Parents and residents have lauded Halidu for his continuous dedication to education and youth development. Many described him as a visionary leader whose interventions have inspired many young people to take their education seriously.
“Every year, Halidu supports our children with free classes and now he’s promising laptops for those who excel. This is the kind of leadership we need,” said Madam Akosua Mensah, a parent whose child benefited from the programme.
Halidu urged the students to remain focused, disciplined, and determined as they prepare for the examination. He also assured the community of his continued support in the area of education and youth empowerment.
