Air Peace's aircraft overshoots runway

An airplane carrying dozens of passengers overshot its runway at the Port Harcourt International Airport on Sunday.

The plane, belonging to Air Peace, had the accident at about 7:45 a.m.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has now confirmed that no casualties were recorded in the incident involving Air Peace’s flight P47190 from Lagos on Sunday.

FAAN’s director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Obiageli Orah, in a statement issued on Sunday in Lagos, said the aircraft, with registration number 5N-BQQ, departed Lagos and landed at the Port Harcourt International Airport at approximately 7.45 a.m., before it overshot the runway.

Mrs Orah stated: “We are relieved to report that there were no casualties. Evacuation of the 127 passengers has been completed safely with no casualties.”

She said the incident would delay flights coming into Port Harcourt and that further details would be provided when available.
