AI-Travel Planner Weekend Adventure: Lansing, Michigan
I have visited nearly 40 states, but one state I have yet to visit is Michigan. Thinking about where I'd go first if planning a trip to Michigan, I thought the capital city of Lansing would be a good start. But what would I do when I got there? Well, I decided to use the new Only In Your State AI-Travel Planning Dashboard to see what it would come up with for a weekend getaway. Let's see the results!
To use the AI Travel Planning tool, you must answer a few questions, and, using your answers, an itinerary will be populated for you. It takes seconds. All you do is enter where you want to go, with whom, how long, the month, and your interests. Easy peasy! I chose a weekend getaway in September with my partner for this itinerary. Here are the results:
I loved all the nature options the AI travel planner gave me. One is the Lansing River Trail, a 20-mile multi-use path. For this trail, my partner and I could take a long walk by the river or rent bikes for some exercise and fun! A romantic stroll through Cooley Gardens, a city park, is quite a romantic idea, especially if we grab food from a nearby eatery and picnic on its grounds. Another nature option I was given is the Fenner Nature Center, which has nature trails, fields, and ponds. My partner and I can go birdwatching and breathe in fresh air while enjoying each other's company.
Then there's the R.E. Olds Transportation Museum, where we can learn all about Lansing's automotive history. We both love cars, and, after all, Lansing has been home to several car manufacturers over the years.
With our love of Mexican cuisine, I was pleased to see Jalapeños Mexican Restaurant on the AI-generated itinerary. As this is a quick-service place, I think grabbing tacos and eating them at Cooley Gardens, picnic-style, would be a great plan.
Capital City BBQ offers a menu with both barbecue and Vietnamese fare. This seemingly odd combination works for both my partner and me as he loves BBQ and I love Vietnamese. This one is a win-win!
The third and last dining option I was given in Lansing is Weston’s Kewpee Sandwich Shop, which serves burgers, sandwiches, and wraps. This is another quick-service place and a great lunch option.
The AI tool gave me one accommodation option, albeit a good one. The Wild Goose Inn, a charming bed and breakfast in East Lansing, seems like a wonderful place to stay in the fall. Each room has a unique theme, and some have stone fireplaces while others have jacuzzi tubs. So romantic!
I was happy with the results of a romantic weekend getaway in Lansing with my partner. There was a bit of everything, including nature stops, multiple dining options, and a romantic bed and breakfast stay. The only thing is that I wish it had come up with a more romantic dining option. If you haven't tried the AI Travel Planner yet, what are you waiting for?
