The 9th World Conference on Sinology, held in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, from June 5-7, served as a crucial platform for discussing the profound contributions of digital technology. Co-hosted by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation, an arm of the Ministry of Education, and Renmin University of China, the conference specifically explored how digital advancements are empowering the fields of Sinology and Chinese studies, as well as fostering broader exchanges among civilizations.

A significant highlight of the conference involved insights from Spanish Sinologist Patricia Amate Núñez, whose research focuses on the renowned classical novel "Dream of the Red Chamber." Núñez emphasized the immense potential of artificial intelligence in facilitating the widespread dissemination of such classic literary works. She illustrated this by noting that AI tools, including prominent platforms like ChatGPT and DeepSeek, could enable individuals to easily access detailed information about characters such as Baoyu and Daiyu, thereby enriching the understanding and appreciation of these enduring texts for a global audience.

Furthermore, Patricia Amate Núñez underscored the forward-looking nature of Shenzhen itself. She described the city as a "city of future" where "AI is everywhere," expressing her intent to encourage her students to visit. Her rationale was that direct exposure to Shenzhen's vibrant technological landscape would provide students with a tangible understanding of ongoing developments and their transformative implications for academic disciplines like Sinology and the broader sphere of international cultural dialogue.
