A former international, Juwon Oshinawa, has said he is optimistic the Super Eagles will pick the maximum points in today’s World Cup qualifier against the Brave Warriors of Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
The member of the 2013 AFCON winning Super Eagles squad also admonished the coach Eric Chelle led side to be cautious against Zimbabwe.
He said “Speaking as a football fan, I will be rooting for the Super Eagles to win the game. The coach has started well and their win against Rwanda away is a morale booster for them.
“However, I will urge them to be careful against Zimbabwe who are down and won’t mind bringing anybody down with them. I saw their game against Benin Republic where they came from two goals down to secure maximum points. But I am very optimistic we will win the game.”
Historically, the Super Eagles have dominated this fixture, winning two of their three previous World Cup qualifying meetings. However, Zimbabwe held them to a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture, proving they can be stubborn opponents.
