Adentan NCCE sensitising citizens on child health, vaccination

The Adentan Municipal office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), in collaboration with the Ghana Health Service (GHS), has rolled out a child vaccination awareness campaign across the municipality under the theme: "Every Child Deserves a Healthy Future; Invest in Your Child, Attend 'Weighing' Regularly."

The engagement is part of the celebration of African Vaccination and Child Health Promotion Week, organized by the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the Ghana Health Service (GHS).

The campaign targets faith-based organizations and other identifiable groups. It is intended to conscientiously remind and inform parents and guardians about the importance of periodic child immunization in preventing deadly childhood diseases.

On Sunday, May 25, 2025, Rita Amparbin-Tetteh, the Director of Communications and Corporate Affairs at the NCCE, along with Vida Obeng Addo and Mark Baah Kumi from the Adentan NCCE office, engaged members of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) at Ashiyie on the topic of vaccinations and the benefits of early childhood immunization.

Amparbin-Tetteh emphasized that these vaccines are safe and are provided free of charge to children under the age of five by the Ministry of Health through the Ghana Health Service. She noted that vaccines are readily available at various health centres within the municipality and across the country.

She urged congregants to prioritize the health of their children by ensuring they receive the required vaccines at the appropriate times.

She also encouraged parents and guardians to keep their children’s weighing cards and medical records safe to help health practitioners monitor growth and determine the vaccines their children are eligible for.

As part of the campaign to promote child health, parents and guardians were educated on key health practices that contribute to child survival and development.

Officials from the Adentan NCCE reiterated the importance and benefits of early childhood vaccinations in general.
