as Emily, was instantly devoured by audiences for its black comedy, suspenseful mystery and sartorial sheen.

As suspenseful as it was sleek, the story centred on devoted mummy blogger and her sartorially blessed best friend, Emily, who suddenly disappears leaving Stephanie to unravel the twisty mystery.

As it turns out—spoilers ahead—Emily has a secret twin and a secret debt, thus disappearing to claim a life-insurance payout. After several more plot twists, Emily ends up in prison, her husband Sean (Henry Golding) moves across the country and Stephanie lives out her mummy-blogging dreams.

So, what’s to come from Another Simple Favour and when can we finally watch it? Scroll on.

A new trailer for the long-awaited sequel, A Simple Favour 2, has just dropped, revealing all the chaotic twists and turns we can expect from the upcoming thriller.

In it, we see Emily re-enter Stephanie’s life in an unexpected way, when she emerges from her prison sentence out of the blue.

After asking Stephanie to be the Maid of Honour at her (equally as unexpected) wedding to an unknown Italian businessman, the group head to Capri, Italy to celebrate the nuptials. But in true Simple Favour fashion, we see the plot start to unravel, with murder, betrayal, deception and lies forming the basis for an unhinged White Lotus-style romp around the coastal isle.

It’s been a long anguishing wait Another Simple Favour, considering director Paul Freid first told SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show the sequel would be released in 2023.

“We kind of have a deal to do it, it’s just figuring out scheduling and everything. That’s the thing that rules Hollywood is schedules,” he said in 2022.

Then, came the writers strikes in Hollywood.

However, patience, they say, is a virtue and we now know that Another Simple Favour will premiere at the 2025 SXSW film and TV festival on March 7.

Following its SXSW debut, the film will then be available to stream globally on Prime Video from May 1st.

Things between Stephanie and Sean were more than a little complicated at the end of the first film—attempted murder and sleeping with your wife’s best friend will do that.

But what awaits Sean and Stephanie in the sequel? While details of the plot are thin at best, we do know both Kendrick and Golding are slated to return.

According to the synopsis: “Stephanie Smothers (Anna Kendrick) and Emily Nelson (Blake Lively) reunite on the beautiful island of Capri, Italy, for Emily’s extravagant wedding to a rich Italian businessman.

“Along with the glamorous guests, expect murder and betrayal to RSVP for a wedding with more twists and turns than the road from the Marina Grande to the Capri town square.”
