LOS ANGELES (KTLA) – If rollercoaster enthusiasts weren’t already fired up for the new “Fast & Furious” ride still under construction at Universal Studios Hollywood, this should do the trick.

Video recorded by a park visitor on Sunday, Feb. 2, shows the coaster’s massive loop around the Starway Escalator, along with most of the track’s length, has been completed, giving parkgoers a breathtaking view of what’s to come.

“Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift” is set to open sometime in 2026. It will be the theme park’s first high-speed outdoor coaster.

The ride begins inside a garage-style queue in the park’s upper lot, where the beloved Animal Actors and Special Effects show venues were once located.

KTLA viewer footage shows the final loop of “Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift” at Universal Studios Hollywood on Feb. 2, 2025.

The trains will launch into the lower lot with a series of high-speed banked turns and inversions as the cars rotate to replicate the drifting action made famous by the movie franchise’s racing scenes.

Some of the rotations, along with shields around two sections of the track, are designed to contain riders’ screams and keep them directed away from nearby homes, park officials said.

“Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift” will be the park’s first major addition since Super Nintendo World with the immersive dark ride, Mario KART: Bowser’s Challenge, opened in February 2023.
