999.999% success rate in generating wealth: Chinese online stores are selling 'Wealthy Soil' for Rs 10,000
Online stores in China have been selling soil allegedly collected from outside major banks, promoting it as a means to attract wealth and prosperity. The product, priced at Rs 10,500 per portion, has been trending on Chinese e-commerce platforms.
According to the South China Morning Post (SCMP), sellers claim to have collected the soil from locations such as bank entrances, potted plants in bank lobbies, and even dust from money counting machines. One seller stated that he offers four types of soil sourced from five leading banks: Bank of China, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Agricultural Bank of China, China Construction Bank, and Bank of Communications. The cheapest portion of this "bank soil" was listed at Rs 260.
Some online sellers have posted videos showing the collection process to assure buyers of the soil's authenticity. In one video, a man at a bank entrance is seen holding a container of soil, shouting, "Boss Liu from Guangdong, your soil is ready." Another video features a seller using a spoon to scoop soil onto a golden plate while saying, "Brother 0863 from Beijing, now I am digging your bank soil."
One seller reportedly claimed that their soil has a "999.999 per cent success rate in generating wealth."
Chinese regulations on urban landscaping prohibit the destruction of green spaces, including digging soil outside banks. SCMP reported that due to these restrictions, many sellers collect the soil at night.
The trend has led to widespread discussion and mockery on Chinese social media. One user, quoted by SCMP, commented, "Laughing out loud, what is this bank soil? I work at a bank, and I have to bring my own soil from home to plant flowers in the office." Another user questioned, "I live next to a bank, so why has my fortune not improved?"
