2027: Atiku's coalition yet to adopt ADC - Lukman
The coalition of opposition politicians led by the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, says there is no truth in the story making the rounds that it has adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the political platform to unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 poll.
This was made known in a statement Thursday by a key member of the coalition, Malam Salihu Lukman.
Lukman described such a story as completely false, adding that no such decision has been taken.
According to him, once negotiations are concluded, a formal announcement will be made by the leaders of the coalition.
The statement read: “My attention is drawn to Vanguard Newspaper publication claiming that I have been appointed to head the Secretariat of the coalition.
The public should disregard the story as it is completely false. No such decision has been taken.
“Also false is the report that the coalition has adopted the ADC at its meeting of Tuesday, May 20, 2025.
“The truth is negotiations among all the coalition leaders are progressing very well, and final decisions about the political platform for the 2027 election will be taken soon.
“Unfortunately, there appear to be some mischief-makers promoting and planting stories in the media with the clear aim of sowing seeds of discord among coalition leaders.
“The public and the media should please disregard all these mischievous stories.”
